Overview

What Is Used Pallet Racking?

Used pallet racking is previously owned racking that’s been removed from service, inspected, and where required, refurbished before resale. It’s the same structural systems as new racking, selective, drive-in, cantilever, double deep, just at a lower cost and often with faster availability than ordering new stock.

It suits businesses setting up a new warehouse on a budget, expanding existing storage, or needing a system quickly without a long lead time. Every system still needs to meet the same safety standards as new racking, which is why inspection and condition assessment matter more here than with new stock.

Why choose us

Buying used racking only makes sense if it’s been properly assessed, every frame, beam and connector needs to be sound before it goes back into service. Absolute Storage Systems has been supplying and installing racking, new and used, since 1991.

  • Inspected before resale – Every system is checked for damage, wear and structural integrity before being offered for sale.
  • AS4084:2023 compliant – Used racking we supply is assessed against the same Australian safety standards as new systems.
  • Multiple racking types available – Selective, drive-in, cantilever and double deep systems, depending on current stock.
  • Supply, install and support – One team handles sourcing, supply, installation and ongoing inspections.
  • Award-winning supplier relationships – Seven-time Distributor of the Year recognition reflects the strength of the brands and components behind every system we supply.
  • Recognised brands in stock – Our used racking inventory includes systems from leading Australian warehouse brands such as Schaefer, Colby, Dexion and Stow, so you can expand or match an existing system already in your warehouse.

Why Used Pallet Racking Is Essential for Cost-Effective Warehouse Storage

Not every business needs, or can justify, new racking. Used pallet racking gives you a properly inspected, compliant storage system at a fraction of the cost, without the wait time that comes with ordering new stock.

  • Lower upfront cost – Used racking typically costs significantly less than new, freeing up budget for other parts of the business.
  • Faster availability – Used stock is often ready to install sooner than new racking on order.
  • Same safety standards – Inspected and assessed against AS4084:2023 before resale.
  • Multiple system types available – Selective, drive-in, cantilever and double deep options, depending on your stock and space.
  • A practical option when scaling – Useful for businesses expanding storage without committing to new system pricing.

If budget or lead time is a factor in your next racking project, used pallet racking is worth considering, provided it’s properly inspected first. Our team can assess your space and match you with the right used system, contact us to get started.

FAQs

What is the difference between used and refurbished pallet racking?

Used pallet racking is existing stock that has been removed from service, inspected and confirmed as fit for purpose. Refurbished racking has had damaged components replaced, or has been repaired and repainted, before being put back into stock for sale.

Yes, in most cases. Our used stock includes systems from Schaefer, Colby, Dexion and Stow, so extending an existing run is usually a matter of matching the brand, the frame profile and the beam connector type. Mixing components between manufacturers is not something we do, because load ratings are only valid for matched components.” If we don’t have current stock of the brand you are wanting, we can usually source from across out network of resellers.

No it doesn’t need to be re-certified prior to installation, however it should be certified once it is installed. We will ensure that the racking is structurally sound and free of damage that may impact its ability to meet the Australian Standard and Worksafe. Once installed, we will then certify that the racking installation meets the Australian Standard and is free from damage that may impact its ability to do so.

Used racking comes out of existing stock rather than a manufacturing queue, so it is usually available much sooner than new racking, which is ordered to specification. Timing depends on what is in stock, the size of the system and site access.” Usually if in stock, used racking can be supplied within a matter of days.

Yes. We dismantle and remove existing racking systems, which is often part of a warehouse relocation or a reconfiguration.” We will inspect the racking and based on brand, condition and demand, offer a price that will include us dismantling and transporting back to site.
